Georgy Rykovanov, Chairman of ROSATOM’s Scientific and Technical Council, Visited Dalur Production Facilities


The production site of Dalur, JSC (subsidiary of ARMZ Uranium Holding Co./Mining Division of ROSATOM State Atomic Energy Corporation) was visited by the Chairman of the Scientific and Technical Council of ROSATOM State Atomic Energy Corporation, academician, member of the Presidium of the Russian Academy of Sciences Georgy Nikolayevich Rykovanov. This is the first visit of the scientist to the ARMZ enterprise, during which he became thoroughly acquainted with the uranium production method of in-situ leaching.

Director General of Dalur, JSC, Nikolay Poponin told Georgy Nikolayevich about the features of the production cycle and informed about the main operation results and prospects for the enterprise development. Experts of Dalur, JSC demonstrated a local sorption unit in action, told in detail about the features of the strategic metal leaching and sorption. Special attention was paid to innovative «smart technologies» aimed at improving environmental and occupational safety. The academician got acquainted with the unique technology of associated scandium extraction developed and patented by ARMZ experts in cooperation with the scientists of the Ural Federal University. «It is especially important for general public to ensure environmental and radiation safety during the uranium deposit development. Since the discovery of the first — Dalmatovskoye — deposit in the Kurgan Region in 1979, there has not been a single emergency related to the Dalur, JSC activities. An important component of which is the use of in-situ leaching method safe both for people and the environment. ROSATOM State Atomic Energy Corporation policy is informational transparency, we consider provision of all stakeholders with truthful and honest data about our activities as one of the important tasks,» said Alexander Burutin, Chairman of the Board of Directors, Dalur, JSC. Also, during the visit, prospects for cooperation in scientific support and maintenance of natural uranium production were discussed.

For reference: G.N. Rykovanov is a Soviet and Russian nuclear physicist, science organizer, Dr. Sci. (Phys.-Math.), academician of the Russian Academy of Sciences, author of over 350 scientific papers. Since February 7, 2017 hi is a Chairman of the ROSATOM State Atomic Energy Corporation Scientific and Technical Council. Currently he is the Scientific Director at RFNC-VNIITF.
