Planned overhaul of the sulfuric acid plant of PJSC PIMCU completed well ahead of schedule
Complete shutdown of production facilities lasted only 8 days instead of the planned 20 days. "Repair crews and technical departments took a responsible attitude to the tasks. Despite the large scope of work, we were able to speed up the completion. In accordance with the standards of Production System “Rosatom” we acted effectively, eliminating any delays and downtime. The overhaul will result in significant improvement in quality, reliability and operational performance of the primary equipment - says plant manager Nikolai Smirnov.
At the first stage of the overhaul, gas was removed from the catalyst chamber. On the second stage, equipment was cooled for maintenance. The catalyst chamber was cleaned and contact mass replaced, two cation-exchange filters were replaced in chemical water treatment unit. New filters are lined with fluoroplastic, which will greatly increase their service life. Maintenance personnel of the plant installed a new air compressor as well. In order to extend the life of expensive equipment, magnetic water activators were installed on water recirculation system of heat exchangers to protect the equipment against deposits. The most significant work was performed on sulfur transportation piping, involving replacement of 40 meters of pipes.
According to sulfuric acid plant manager, plant overhaul will increase the output and ensure stable operation during the summer-autumn period. The plant reached full capacity after the overhaul on
