Results of Young Talent Competition Summarized
On September 18, 2015, summarizing of results and awarding of winners of the Young Talent Competition, organized by ARMZ Uranium Holding Co. (Atomredmetzoloto JSC), took place for the fifth successive year. This year, 21 applications were submitted for the competition. Twelve ready papers were received by mail. The competition was held among third- and fourth-year students of dedicated higher education institutions.
The main requirement to be met by the participants is to prepare an author written essay on one of topics suggested by the organizers and having relevance to the mining industry.
The Young Talent Competition involves two stages. On the first stage, an expert board, composed of professionals from Atomredmetzoloto JSC and enterprises of the holding company, assesses papers applied for the contest and selects finalists. On the second stage, applicants present and defend their papers in person.
Following the results of check out of the papers, our experts admitted seven papers to defence, including papers by students from the Seversk Technological Institute – a branch of MEPhI (Seversk) (3 persons), the Trans-Baikal State University (Chita) (1 person) and the National Mineral Resources University (Mining University) (St. Petersburg) (3 persons).
Based on the results of in person defence, four students got rating “excellent” and three students got rating “good.” All students were awarded certificates for scholarship that they will receive on a monthly basis during the whole academic year.
Director General Vladimir Verkhovtsev and First Deputy Director General – Chief Operating Officer Viktor Svyatetsky came to congratulate the students on successful defence of their papers. Vladimir Verkhovtsev reminded that the nuclear industry has a strategic importance to Russia and its succession pool should be composed of talented young people. He wished the competition finalists further success in their learning and invited them to undertake an apprenticeship at the enterprises within the holding company.
After defence of their papers, the students visited the Exhibition at Manezh, devoted to the 70-year anniversary of the atomic industry, and also took part in the ARMZ Spartakiada Games on 19 September.
