Assembly Line of the PIMCU Repair and Mechanical Plant Releasing the First PD-2EE Load-Haul-Dump Machine Samples
Creation of new mining equipment models is continued by machine builders of the repair and mechanical plant (RMP) of the Priargunsky Mining and Chemical Union (PJSC PIMCU, operated by ARMZ Uranium Holding/Mining Division of Rosatom State Corporation). The assembly line released the first PD-2EE load-haul-dump machine samples.
PD-2EE is designed, primarily, for underground operations. It is equipped with power electrical drive and hydraulic brake, which allows climbing up to 16 degree slopes. Grigoriy Goryachiy, manager for the LHD release project, said: “The new model also features improved power transmission and reduction gearbox units, a new layout has been applied. We have increased the cable drum capacity to 150 m and installed a centralized lubrication system. Joystick control allows improving convenience and promptness of machine manipulations hence improving its performance.”
RMP has been manufacturing load-haul-dump machines (LHD) since 1991. Currently, the company is the only Russian manufacturer of the similar class equipment. In just 26 years, 109 similar machines of various modifications were produced. Previously, they were used only in the PIMCU mines, but now the machine builders are expecting the domestic market launch. Sergey Shurygin, CEO of PIMCU, says: “Nowadays, many Russian enterprises have no possibility to purchase foreign equipment or parts thereto due to the currency exchange rate increase. Consequently, a window of opportunity has opened for us: we can offer both a good price and a good quality. Taking into account the consumer requests as much as possible, we can sufficiently increase the productive capacity of load-haul-dump machines. Compared with foreign analogs, the development of RMP machine builders is easy to operate and manage and, most importantly, 1.5–2 times cheaper.”
New models of load-haul-dump machines have already been designed and wait for their turn for assembly at the RMP assembly line. Each of them is intended for operation in specific mining conditions. In particular, PD-1E and PD-1D can operate in narrow openings due to minimized dimensions. PD-2EA will be “free from the ties” of the cable with electric power accumulators increasing the machine mobility (this modification is under construction in cooperation with TVEL Rosatom State Corporation Holding).
Vladimir Verkhovtsev, CEO of ARMZ Uranium Holding, who visited the RMP during his business trip, highly appreciated the new developments of machine builders. He visited the mining equipment workshop and the test site, where a new LHD machine is undergoing a run-in test. Vladimir Verkhovtsev noted that execution of the production program for the manufacturing of up to 20 LHD machines a year for domestic mining enterprises will impact the financial results of PIMCU positively.
On June 6–9, the LHD machine manufactured by RMP will be presented to the consumers at the 24th International Specialized Exhibition “Russian Coal and Mining” in Novokuznetsk.
