Russia’s “uranium capital” celebrated Miner’s Day, its main holiday
Krasnokamensk birthday is also traditionally celebrated on the last Sunday of August.
The solemn meeting and the holiday concert were held in “Dauriya” Palace of Culture of Priargunsky Industrial Mining and Chemical Union (PJSC Priargunsky Industrial Mining and Chemical Union is a part of the control network of Uranium Holding ARMZ/Mining Division of State Atomic Energy Corporation Rosatom). When opening the event, the General Director of Uranium Holding ARMZ Vladimir Verkhovtsev rendered the welcoming words from the head of the SC Rosatom Supervisory Board Sergey Kirienko and the General Director of State Corporation Aleksey Likhachev. After having thanked the enterprise veterans, he addressed the present-day workers of the union: “Almost half-century history of Priargunsky Industrial Mining and Chemical Union is a real asset of our country and being its part is great honor and immense responsibility. I’m sure that ambitious targets and concerted efforts of the staff will provide for the long-term development of Priargunsky Industrial Mining and Chemical Union and Krasnokamensk”.
In her congratulatory speech Natalya Zhdanova, the Governor of the Trans-Baikal Territory, has pointed out the following: “It is a nationwide holiday in Trans-Baikal, and in Krasnokamensk it is special, as each family is involved in it in some way or other. Net year the enterprise will celebrate its half-century anniversary. 50 years ago, a beautiful modern city was built in the bleak steppe and the uranium mining enterprise was constructed. Our task is to save it and to lay the groundwork for the city to live and for the enterprise to develop”.
The General Director of Uranium Holding ARMZ and the Trans-Baikal Governor presented the best workers of the union with certificate of appreciation and letters of thanks. Congratulations to the best workers were also expressed by the chairman of Krasnokamensk district council Aleksey Zammoev, the city mayor Yury Didenko and the chairman of the town settlement council Nikolay Nekrasov.
The climax of the official part was presentation of the honor badge “Mining Glory” as the highest recognition of the mineworkers’ hard labor. The chairman of the primary trade union organization of Priargunsky Industrial Mining and Chemical Union Petr Gnatyuk, underground wireman Gennady Antonov, mine worker Victor Makarov, underground electric locomotive operator Vladimir Nardyshev, and the leading engineer on occupational and industrial safety Anatoly Tavrovsky became the full holders of the honor badge. Abidin Nagiev, the mining dispatcher, is awarded the honor badge “Mining Glory” of the third degree. While delivering the highest award to the mineworkers, the General Director of Priargunsky Industrial Mining and Chemical Union Aleksandr Glotov said: “Great responsibility rests with you today. You have to make every effort to ensure that next year the enterprise will meet its half-century anniversary with renewed energy and opportunities. There is no doubt that your experience, competence and devotion to the city and the union will become the guarantee of performance of all production tasks”.
The songs glorifying the hard work of the mineworkers were sung by Ilya Tereshchenko, Egor Ashyrglyzhov, Siran Agasarov, Irina Kokhanskaya, and vocal studio “New Star” within the concert program prepared by performance groups of “Dauriya”, including with participation of young performers. Performance of the violin player Grigor Vardanyan, who came from the regional center and presented some musical works to spectators, has become the centerpiece of the ceremony.
And prospekt Stroiteley has become the place for the traditional holiday march of labor collectives of Priargunsky Industrial Mining and Chemical Union and Krasnokamensk enterprises.
Banner men bearing the banner of Priargunsky Industrial Mining and Chemical Union with the Order of the Red Banner of Labor and the Order of Lenin on it as the main symbol of the union staff labor merits were the first to enter the main city avenue. They were followed by well-organized rows of full holders of mining glory, who are considered to be the pride and labor elite of the mining enterprise. All in all, during the operating years of Priargunsky Industrial Mining and Chemical Union over 350 persons have become the holders of three degrees of the mining award. Each subdivision column was notable not only for its bright decorations, but also for its recognizable logo. The union employees greeted the viewers with flights of colorful crackers and fireworks, and the pupils of educational institutions under their patronage who were accompanying them presented specially prepared performance items.
The uranium mining workers, coalers of the surface mine office Urtuyskoye, shaft sinkers, research engineers, railway personnel, procurement agents and maintenance men were greeted from the tribune by the representatives of Uranium Holding ARMZ, senior executives of Priargunsky Industrial Mining and Chemical Union, city and district, and honored guests.
