Best Professionals of ARMZ Uranium Holding Co. as per the Results of the 2nd ARMZSkills – 2018 Competition Based on the WorldSkills Methodology

85 representatives of all holding companies (in particular: uranium mining companies, such as PIMCU, PJSC, Dalur, JSC and Khiagda, JSC, and RUSBURMASH JSC, service company for geological survey and drilling, Engineering Center of VNIPIpromtechnologii, JSC and ARMZ Service, LLC, authorized body in the sphere of procurement) participated in the competition this year.

ARMZSkills – 2018 was held at three sites. Welders, dosimetrists and drivers of special-purpose vehicles, specialists in laboratory chemical analysis and labor protection competed in Krasnokamensk, in the workshops and laboratories of Priargunsky Industrial Mining and Chemical Union. The competition in the field of Network and System Administration took place in the management company located in Moscow. Professionals of VNIPIpromtechnology, JSC became the best in Engineering Design.

"Our competition is a great opportunity to expand our knowledge and competence. I wish the team of our division to be increased and replenished with more professionals," Vladimir Verkhovtsev, Director General of ARMZ Uranium Holding Co., immediately addressed to the participants at all sites via the video conference.

The representatives of PIMCU, PJSC (Vasily Dynenkov (1st place), Dmitry Kuzmin (2nd place) and Vadim Novikov (3rd place)) won among welders. They were faster and better than their colleagues in the performance of mechanized semi-automatic and manual arc welding, including aluminum and stainless steel structures. "There is no such a thing as “Veni, Vidi, Vici” among welders. The relevant skills are the only thing that you need, if you want to reach good results," Peter Shendrik, Chief Expert, commented.

Special atmosphere could be felt at the Central Research Laboratory of PIMCU, PJSC, where the competition among laboratory assistants for chemical analysis was held. The silence there was only broken by the barely heard tinkle of glass flasks. Competitors had to determine the content of hexavalent chromium and nickel in the water by using the photometric method, as well as to calibrate measuring glasswares. Anna Dneprovskaya, representative of Khiagda, JSC, became the best. The 2nd place was taken by Natalia Selezneva (PIMCU, PJSC) and the 3rd by Lidia Zozulya (Dalur, JSC).

"Our colleagues are competent specialists and professionals. Their work can be recognized at enterprises (in particular, PIMCU, PJSC), where the level of industrial injuries decreases from year to year," Vsevolod Galinov, Chief Inspector for Security Control at Atomredmetzoloto, JSC, Expert in Labor Protection, said. Participants of the competition conducted briefings, selected personal protective equipment, investigated accidents and performed other tasks. Gold medal was won by Nikolay Tsyn (PIMCU, PJSC), silver one by Maxim Gorash (Khiagda, JSC) and bronze one by Vladimir Kozulin (PIMCU, PJSC).

The most spectacular, undoubtedly, was the competition among drivers of special-purpose vehicles. Drivers using KamAZ vehicles went through such stages as "Parking," "Eight Manoeuvre," "S-turn," "Relay Race," "Tunnel Gates," etc. Also, the participants had to pass the examination based on road traffic rules, consisting of 800 questions, and the test based on the regulations for transportation of dangerous goods, as well as to demonstrate practical skills of providing pre-medical care. Viktor Lonshakov (PIMCU, PJSC) was the leader during all stages. The 2nd place was taken by Dmitry Chikishev (PIMCU, PJSC) and the 3rd one by Andrey Shergin (Khiagda, JSC).

The competition of Dosimetrists was organized at the premises of radiation safety laboratory. Representatives of enterprises determined the sources of ionizing radiation, examined the land plot for conditional construction of industrial facility and identified fragments of contaminated scrap metal. Alexander Vdovin (Dalur, JSC) turned out to be the best, when the 2nd and the 3rd places were taken by Svetlana Vinogradova and Nadezhda Nikitina from PIMCU, PJSC.

The best System Administrator became Maxim Golyaev (ARMZ Service, LLC), while Alexey Gvozdev (VNIPIpromtechnologii, JSC) won the competition in Engineering Design.

"In addition to the personal competition, ARMZSkills is an excellent opportunity to get the best professional skills and prepare for sectoral competition. All in all, the winners will participate in AtomSkills, competition of professional skills based on the WorldSkills methodology, organized by ROSATOM State Atomic Energy Corporation. This summer it will be held in Yekaterinburg," Stanislav Anikeev, HR Director of ARMZ Uranium Holding Co., said.

In 2019, ARMZSkills will be held at the sites of Khiagda, JSC.
