50th Anniversary of PIMCU: Trans-Baikal Super-Marathon Around the World in 80 Days Started in Krasnokamensk and Chita
In addition to PIMCU the project was organized by the Chita Seychas portal and MTS, PJSC Trans-Baikal branch.
Participants include over 200 athletes in Chita, and over 300 representatives of branches of PIMCU, PJSC, as well as companies and educational institutions of the city in Krasnokamensk. “In total during the 80 days of the super-marathon the participants will run the distance of 40,072 km, which is the equatorial circumference of the Earth. We have to engage in sport activities, have self-confidence and then we'll be able to do anything,” says one of the super-marathon’s organizers, Deputy Director General of PIMCU, PJSC for general issues and the development Andrey Prostakishin.
In the first day bikers and relay racers covered the distance of 3.5 km. After that, each participant can choose their own distance and when to start. The main condition is to enter this information on the website now-chita.ru (using special Strava app that can be downloaded on a smart device). For example, if you ran 2 km during your morning exercise you can include that in your information. According to the organizers, as of today the marathon participants have covered 1879 km.
During the first day of the marathon separate time trials were held in Krasnokamensk. Fastest bikers were Ekaterina Ponomareva (Krasnokamenskaya TPP) and Denis Zagorodny (Repair Mechanical Plant).
Champions of the relay race are the Spasateli – the combined team of Separate paramilitary mine rescue squad and Affiliated school No. 7. “I myself participated in two Chita-Krasnokamensk marathons dedicated to anniversaries of victory in the Great Patriotic War. I always support such initiatives and encourage kids to live a healthy lifestyle. Plus, daily training yields its results,” - says the team captain and the rescue squad section commander Takhir Khakimov.
The big race will end on August 20. The most active participants and the marathon winners will be rewarded in Chita and Krasnokamensk the day before Miners’ Day. You can participate in the marathon by registering on now-chita.ru website.
“There are no other events on this scale in our country. We hope that more people of the Trans-Baikal territory join us in living the healthy lifestyle and develop new healthy habits,” – says the Director of MTS, PJSC Trans-Baikal Branch Aleksandr Kolodkin.
