H1 2018 Production and Financial Results of Khiagda, JSC

“In H1 2018, Khiagda, JSC exceeded its plan by 5%. Together with measures aimed at improving production efficiency, this allowed to reduce the cost of finished products by 8%”, as Andrey Gladyshev, Director General of the uranium mining company, reported at the meeting held at the production site at the Bauntovsky Evenki District of the Republic of Buryatia.

The meeting on summarizing the Company’s production and financial activities in H1 2018 was chaired by Vladimir Verkhovtsev, Director General of ARMZ Uranium Holding Co. (Mining Division of ROSATOM State Atomic Energy Corporation). It was attended by deputy directors of the Holding and the managers of Khiagda, JSC.

Among the main projects that had a significant impact on the financial result, they singled out the “Smart Mine”, allowing automatically collecting and processing a large amount of digital geological, geophysical, and geoengineering data in on-line mode at the stage of mining operations. This allows for determining the optimal development modes of operating blocks to ensure the maximum economic efficiency. In particular, in the first half of the year, the Company could increase the wells’ productivity and reduce the consumption of chemicals.

Currently, Khiagda, JSC is developing the Khiagdinskoye and Istochnoye deposits; the construction and mining preparatory works are carried out at the Vershinnoye deposit. The installation of block-modular buildings, the construction of an acidification plant, a firefighting station, and other facilities are being completed at the Vershinnoye deposit’s construction site. The construction of Dzhilinda 110/10 kV substation is underway.

Reporting on the medium term, the Director General of Khiagda, JSC said that engineering and geological survey had been completed at the Kolichikanskoye deposit for the construction of production facilities; such survey would soon start at the Dybrynskoye deposit. “These are already the forth, and the fifth, in terms of the development sequence, deposits of the Khiagdinskoye ore field with cost effective reserves, which is confirmed by geological prospecting surveys. It is very important that mining and hydrogeological environment of this group of deposits allows for producing uranium using the in-situ leaching, virtually, without harming the environment”, Andrey Gladyshev said. The plans until the end of 2018 include the construction of a high-voltage power line and an access road to the Kolichikanskoye deposit.

Vladimir Verkhovtsev, Director General of ARMZ Uranium Holding Co., made necessary adjustments to the plans and gave instructions for their implementation. He stressed out that the main task for 2018 and the following years would be “building cheaper, faster, and more efficiently, to maintain and improve today’s indicators”.
