Employees of Atomredmetzoloto, JSC Took Part in the First Environmental Visit of Corporate Volunteers of Rosatom State Corporation
The visit destination was the town of Obninsk where, together with representatives of branch enterprises, the Town Council of Veterans, as well as students of the National Research Nuclear University “MEPhI”, volunteers planted greenery and landscaped territories. Maples, spruces, American sumaches: in total, they planted 55 seedlings. Areas for planting were chosen not by chance — these are facilities related to the industry: the territory near the Obninsk Institute of Nuclear Energy NRNU “MEPhI”; new housing estates on the avenue named after Efim Slavsky — the legendary Minister of Medium Machine Building of the USSR.
Note that the delegation of the uranium holding was the most numerous: the employees of the ARMZ Uranium holding Co. and subsidiaries came with their families to make their contribution to the common cause together with the younger generation.
At the end of the labor part, volunteers were congratulated in the Kurchatov House where, in a solemn atmosphere, they were awarded volunteer diplomas and badges. As a bonus for their work, an excursion was organized for the participants of the visit to the world’s first nuclear power plant — the Obninsk NPP. Volunteers could see the work of the nuclear reactor and get acquainted with the method of obtaining the most powerful energy in the world.
According to Elmira Kvyat, a participant of the action, the representative of the ARMZ legal department: “Corporate volunteering is a team-forming activity: we worked side by side with our colleagues, better knowing and understanding each other. In addition, here in Obninsk, we have got unique knowledge in the area of our professional activity, having raised our overall level of culture. For example, I have always dreamed of visiting a nuclear power plant.”
For reference: The environmental visit opened a program of corporate volunteering with the Rosatom State Corporation. The projects of the program are related to the State Corporation’s main lines of business, key competencies, and operating environment. Rosatom approved the Volunteer Development Initiative as part of creating a sustainable development management system.
